I recently had a procedure where Xylocaine 1% Inj, 20ml was used to numb the area. I've been reading about the side effects, and some of them are quite scary. Has anyone else had any serious issues? I'm particularly worried about the urgent side effects like allergic reactions or metabolic acidosis. It's not that common, but it's important to be informed. I just want to know if others have experienced any of these and what their doctors suggested. Thanks!

I had a similar experience. The main thing I noted was feeling extremely tired and weak, but it went away after a few hours and my doctor had prescribed me a short break before resuming my normal activities.

I got a blue tint to my lips after an injection. The doctor said it was methemoglobinemia which is a rare condition. I was lucky, but you should keep an eye out for that.

The biggest thing to watch out for is the allergic reaction. It can happen to anyone. Always make sure to let the healthcare provider know if you have any allergies or previous reactions to any local anesthetic.

I had some neurological effects after a procedure, like numbness and tingling. It was weird, but the doctor said it was normal and to just wait it out. It took a few hours to go away.

What are the side effects? I was expecting localised numbness and a burning sensation like I got with Lidocaine for stitches. I didn't know it could cause so many other symptoms. I'm surprised by how extensive this list is.

I've had Xylocaine multiple times for dental work and never had any issues. But I've also heard horror stories from friends. It really varies from person to person.

I had a procedure done in the spine and had some urinary problems. The doctor said it was a rare side effect but would subside within 2-3 days. I was shocked when it happened for the first time.

I had Xylocaine for a dental procedure and felt extremely lightheaded afterwards. The dentist said it was normal and would wear off soon. It did, but it was scary at the time. Other than that, I didn't experience any major issues.

Seen a close friend have respiratory problems. It was scary, but the doctor handled it well. Just make sure you're in a medical setting where they can monitor you closely.
