I've been prescribed Morphine Sul 20mg ER Caps(24h) for severe ongoing pain and I'm curious to hear about other people's experiences. I understand it's an extended-release opioid designed to provide continuous pain relief over 24 hours but I'm a bit anxious about the side effects, especially the ones listed under urgent side effects. I'm also wondering what the long-term toll will be; I've heard that tolerance can build up and the effectiveness could diminishes over time. If that's the case, are there alternative treatments or strategies to manage that? Are there any lifestyle changes or additional medications that can help mitigate the side effects or keep the pain under control better?

I've had the best success with these when I take them with food. It helps with the nausea and I feel like they work better that way. Also, stay hydrated! It helps with the constipation.

Just started these a few weeks ago and I've been really drowsy. Is that normal? Feels like I can't function properly during the day. Also, how bad is the constipation? That's my biggest fear.

Be prepared for the mental fog. It's like living in a haze. But honestly, the pain relief is worth it for me. Just be patient with yourself as you adjust.

Dizziness is no joke. Be careful when you first start taking these. I felt like I was on a boat the first few days. But honestly, once my body adjusted, it was like a night and day difference with my pain levels.

I've been on this for about a year now. The first few months were great, pain was well-managed, but now I feel like I need a higher dose. It's a bit scary to think about the long-term effects but my doctor assures me we'll monitor it closely. Definitely be aware of the side effects, but they've been manageable for me so far.
