I've been on Truvada for a few years now for PrEP and I'm curious if anyone has switched to Descovy. I've heard that Descovy has fewer side effects, particularly with kidney health. I'm interested to know if anyone has made the switch and what their experience has been like. I'm also curious about the cost difference and if insurance covers Descovy as well as Truvada. Also, does anyone know if Descovy is as effective as Truvada in preventing HIV transmission? Any insights or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Just make sure to keep an eye on any changes in your body. It's always a good idea to have a plan for monitoring your health when you switch medications.

I made the switch a few months ago and haven't noticed any significant differences. I did have some initial nausea, but it went away after a week. I felt better knowing that Descovy is easier on the kidneys. My insurance covers it, but it's slightly more expensive than Truvada.

Descovy has been great for my peace of mind, especially knowing it’s better for my kidneys. I didn’t experience any immediate side effects, but everyone is different. My advice is to always monitor your health closely when switching meds.

I don’t know anyone who has made the switch. I’ve just seen the advertisements saying it’s better for the kidneys. Has anyone had any real side effects showing up after switching?

If you're thinking about it, now's a good time to talk to your doctor, especially if you've had any kidney issues before. Just make sure to follow up on all your questions and concerns. I’d recommend asking about any potential interactions with other meds if you’re taking any.

I’ve been on Descovy for almost a year now, and I haven't experienced any major side effects. I had some nausea at first, but it went away quickly. I also had a slight issue with insurance coverage initially, but it got sorted out after talking to my insurance provider.

Sounds like it’s worth it then. I’ll be talking to my doctor about it. Any recommendations on what to ask or look for during that conversation would be awesome!

Descovy has been a game-changer for me. I switched because my doctor mentioned the lower likelihood of kidney issues after my last kidney function test showed some slight elevation. Truvada has always been effective but Descovy has been a better fit for me!

Descovy is a bit more expensive, but it’s worth it for the peace of mind. I’ve been on it for about 6 months now and haven’t had any issues. My doctor was very supportive of the switch and helped me navigate the insurance process.

Switching to Descovy? I’m glad I found this thread! I have been thinking about making the transition myself. My doctor also mentioned that Descovy has a lower risk of kidney issues, but I haven't found much more information. How did you find out about Descovy and what was your doctor’s opinion on the change?
