I was recently prescribed Gentamicin 0.1% Ointment for a stubborn bacterial skin infection. The doctor said it's effective for killing the bacteria causing the infection. Has anyone used this topical antibiotic before? I'm curious to know if it worked well for you and if you experienced any side effects. I've read about potential allergic reactions and respiratory issues, which are quite concerning. Any tips on how to apply it and when to expect improvements? Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences!

I used it for a week and noticed no improvement. Ended up switching to something else. Maybe it just wasn't strong enough for the type of bacteria I had. Also, the smell was awful.

I think it’s a bit harsh compared to other antibiotics but maybe that’s just me. Stung like a bitch but it worked. Probably should have used a wet compress or something. Wouldn’t recommend it for sensitive areas, though.

I’m a nurse and I’ve seen people get really bad reactions. It’s serious stuff. Make sure you have a plan to contact emergency services if you experience any of the severe side effects.

I've used Gentamicin before and it worked wonders for my infection. Just make sure to apply a thin layer and keep the area clean. It might sting a bit at first, but it should get better.
