I've recently been prescribed Hydrocortisone butyrate ointment to help with my eczema flare-ups. I've been using it for a couple of weeks and while I feel like my redness and itching is decreasing, it seems like my skin is a bit dryer and some areas are getting a bit redder. Has anyone else had any experience with this ointment? I've seen that some people had reactions like burning and tingling. Also, what are some of the best practices to apply it to sensitive areas? I've been using it about twice daily but am wondering if that is too much or perhaps not enough. Also, has anyone noticed the strange fruity-smelling breath? I'm wondering if that means my sugar levels are too high and if that should be a concern. Are there any other signs and symptoms I should be watching out for?

I noticed dryness too, but my doctor recommended mixing it with a moisturizer. It helps a lot! Also, watch out for any signs of skin infection. If there's swelling or heat at the site of application, it might be time to see a doctor.

How often do you use it? Twice a day is fine, but some people need it more. It really depends on your doctor's instructions. Give it a bit more time. I know how annoying the itching is.

I've had reactions like burning and tingling too, but it went away after a few days. Just be consistent with your application and keep your doctor in the loop.

I've had great success with Hydrocortisone 0.1% ointment for my psoriasis. It definitely helped with the itching and redness. Just make sure to apply a thin layer and avoid covering with a bandage. I also was on it for a couple of weeks and with some patience and a small dose, you'll be on the mend.

I felt like the dryness was a big issue, but I found that applying it in the morning and at night helped a lot. Also, I think that you need to get checked out with a dermatologist if the problem persists.

I think Hydrocortisone is great for short-term use, but long-term, you might want to consider other options. My skin got really thin after using it for too long.
