I've been prescribed Loxapine 25mg Capsules for schizophrenia, and I'm a bit nervous about starting it. Has anyone had experience with this medication? I'm particularly interested in hearing about any side effects you might have experienced, especially the ones that are more subtle or harder to spot. The list of potential side effects is daunting, and I want to be prepared.

I had the opposite experience. I actually lost some weight while taking Loxapine. I was worried about gaining weight, but it never happened. Just weird how different people's bodies react to this stuff.

I've been taking Loxapine for about six months now and it's been a game-changer. My hallucinations and delusions are much more manageable. As for side effects, I've had some dizziness and dry mouth, but nothing too bad. I drink lots of water and chew gum to help with the dry mouth.

This thread is terrifying me. I just started Loxapine and now I'm freaking out about all these side effects.

Be careful, dude. I was on this stuff and it made me feel like a zombie. Plus, the weight gain was insane.

I was really worried about the side effects, especially the neuroleptic malignant syndrome. But I've been taking Loxapine for a year and haven't experienced any major issues. I do feel a bit drowsy sometimes, and my nose gets stuffy, but it's not terrible. I've honestly been feeling a lot better. It's been great for my mental health.

I had to switch to a generic version because my insurance wouldn't cover the brand name. My side effects are similar to the other comments, but I just wanted to add that the generic seems to work just fine! I was worried it wouldn't but I haven't noticed a difference.

I had a really bad reaction to Loxapine. I developed Tardive Dyskinesia after a few months. My tongue was sticking out and my face was twitching. I had to stop taking it immediately. I'm still dealing with the side effects, and it's been hell. Be careful and monitor your symptoms closely.

You'll be okay! Just keep an eye on your body and don't hesitate to call your doctor if something feels off. I had some fears as well; but you'll do better if you are proactive and preemptive about your health.

I was on Loxapine for a while and it helped a lot with my delusions. But I stopped because of the weight gain. I gained like 30 pounds in a few months. It was horrible.

I've had a similar experience to u/UpvoteMeMore. I had some movement problems that were really scaring me — lots of twitching and difficulty controlling my body. I was at the point where I was considering going to the ER due to how severe it was. I had spoken with my Doctor about it and he suggested tapering off the drug. I tried that and the symptoms did improve a little. The Doctor switched me to another medication and now I am dealing with fewer side effects.
