I was recently prescribed Nifedipine 90mg ER (cc) Tablets for high blood pressure. The doctor described it as a calcium channel blocker that helps relax blood vessels and improve blood flow. I'm curious to hear from others who have used this medication, especially about any side effects or tips for managing them. For example, I've heard that some people might notice the tablet shell in their stool, which is apparently completely normal and not a cause for concern. I'd love to know about any other subtle changes or improvements you've noticed in your health since starting this medication. Also, anyone know if it's okay to take it with food or on an empty stomach? Lastly, how long were you on this medication before seeing improvements in your blood pressure?

I've been on Nifedipine for a few months now, and it's been great for my blood pressure. I take it in the morning with a light breakfast. The first week I felt dizzy, but that went away. My doctor warned me about the tablet shell in stool, so I wasn't alarmed when I noticed it. Overall, it's manageable, but I'd recommend always talking to your doctor if you feel anything off.

I've been on this medication for about a month now and have noticed some shortness of breath. I called my doctor and she said it could be a side effect, but she wanted me to monitor it and call if it gets worse. I'm hoping it goes away soon. Otherwise, it’s been okay for me. I noticed that increasing my water intake while taking it helps me avoid the swelling and constipation.

Nifedipine worked well for me, but I had to switch to a different medication because of severe mood swings. It was tough dealing with the emotional ups and downs on top of everything else. But I'm glad I found an alternative. Medicine is a bit of a trial and error process, but this one definitely helped my BP before the side effects became too much.

I felt so weak in the beginning, but it definitely went away. I did get used to it after a while, but it was a shock at first. My doctor said it might be because of how the medication works, that it takes time for the body to adjust. I'm glad I stuck with it, though, because my blood pressure is much better now.

Watch out for the flushing! It can be quite intense. I usually feel my face getting hot and red shortly after taking it. It’s not dangerous, but it’s definitely noticeable. I just make sure to take it when I'm at home so I don't have to deal with it in public. Oh and coffee makes it worse for me.

I only take Nifedipine with food, it helps avoid the upset stomach. Also, I've noticed flushing and dizziness, and I'm not a fan of them, but what can you do, right? I've seen improvements in my blood pressure, though, so it's a trade-off I'm willing to make. Just be cautious and always talk to your doctor if you're experiencing something unusual.

I'll throw this out there: I actually had a bit of a headache when I started, but it went away. But the doctor mentioned that if I feel constipated, I might need to get a stool softener. So far, so good. I'll say again, talk to your doctor, don't just diagnose yourself.

I was really worried about side effects, but honestly, I've only had mild headaches and a bit of dizziness. I take Ibuprofen when I get a headache, and that seems to work. The headaches are rare now, which is great. I started noticing improvement in my blood pressure within a couple of weeks. I did have some constipation at first, but that went away after a few days, didn't require any special treatment.
