I've been recently prescribed Olanzapine 5mg ODT tablets for Bipolar Disorder and I'm trying to find out if anyone has had a success story with this medication. I did have a couple of questions too: firstly, how long did it take to start working for you? Secondly, how severe were the side effects, and did they become tolerable over time? The doctor told me that the tablet form has to be dissolved in the mouth without water, but will this cause any problem? Thirdly, how did you get on with the weight gain? Any advice would be appreciated.

Olanzapine ODT 5mg Tablets worked wonders for me. It took about 2-3 weeks to start feeling better, and the side effects were manageable. I experienced some weight gain, but a healthy diet and exercise helped.

I've noticed that the side effects can be really tough at first, especially the dizziness and sleepiness. But after a few weeks, they started to fade a bit. Seroquel was a lot worse than this. However, the main side effect I am still struggling with is the weight gain. The weight gain can be a side effect of any atypical antipsychotic medication, and unfortunately it seems to be the same case here too.

My biggest takeaway from Olanzapine is that it really helps with mood stabilization. The side effects can be tough (weight gain in particular), but the improvement in my overall mental health was worth it.

I was very confused when the doctor first prescribed Olanzapine ODT 5mg Tablets. The doctor explained that the Orally Disintegrating Tablets dissolve quickly in the mouth and are specially designed for patients who cannot swallow regular tablets. Definitely worth a try.

Does the ODT form really make that much of a difference? I've been on the regular tablets and they work fine, but I'm curious if the ODT is worth switching to. It could be easier for patients who have problems swallowing tablets.

I've had a good experience with Olanzapine ODT. The side effects were minimal for me, and it helped a lot with my bipolar symptoms. Maybe I am lucky.

I've been on Olanzapine for a year now and it has significantly improved my mood and behavior. Make sure to take it exactly as prescribed and stay in touch with your doctor. Report any severe side effects immediately. Take it regularly even if you feel better to prevent relapse.
