I was recently prescribed Zestril 20mg Tablets (generic Lisinopril) for high blood pressure. I've been taking it for a week now, and I'm curious to hear from others who have used this medication. Has anyone had success with it? What side effects did you experience, if any? I've read about some serious potential side effects, so I'm a bit nervous. My doctor said most people tolerate it well, but I'd love to hear some real-life experiences. How long did it take for you to notice any improvements in your blood pressure? Also, did you notice any changes in your cough, if your blood pressure was previously high and you smoked? Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Interesting. I've never heard of that side effect. Were you able to switch to a different medication?

Be careful, I had a bad reaction to Zestril. I developed a rash and some swelling in my face and throat. I had to stop taking it immediately and go to the ER. Turns out I was having an allergic reaction.

I had a persistent dry cough with Zestril, it was really annoying but it went away when I switched to another medicine from a different class.

That's good to know. I started feeling better after a few weeks, but I still feel faint when I stand too quickly. I'm not sure if that's related to the medication or something else.

You should have some blood tests to check your kidneys and potassium levels before you start on them. Lisinopril can affect these.

I've been on Lisinopril for years. It's helped keep my blood pressure in check, but I did notice it made me more prone to cough and sometimes I get a bit lightheaded when getting out of bed. You need to take it in the morning. I'd say the benefits outweigh the side effects for me, but everyone is different.

I've been on Zestril for about 6 months now, and it's been a game-changer for my blood pressure. I didn't experience any major side effects, just a bit of dizziness at first, but that went away after a few weeks.
