I've recently been prescribed Methotrexate 50mg/2ml for my rheumatoid arthritis, and I'm a bit nervous about the side effects. I've read that it can be quite powerful and requires careful monitoring. Has anyone had experience with this medication? How has it worked for you? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm particularly concerned about the more severe side effects, like infections, bleeding, or even kidney problems. Did anyone have those problems? Is it manageable? How can I best manage it? Has anyone here been through this? Any guidance on dealing with the side effects, both short and long term? Thanks!

I've been on that for a while too. I've been on it for a few years. It's great, it's really helped me, but I'm worried about what happens when I get off it and if it will make it worse. I also am worried about losing my hair. It's really long, and I've grown attached to it. I have had a problem with tougher side effects when I take it, but not as much as most others, though. Sometimes I get really bad headaches. It's not really a life-threatening problem, but it's annoying. I just wish it would go away. It's a pretty heavy thing to deal with.

I've been on it for awhile, maybe a few years? It has been a long time. It's a bit tough, but it's worth it for the relief I get from it. I'd recommend it to anyone that needs it though it's a bit scary when you start. You get used to it, though. It turns out that the side effects are all overblown. My doctor told me that it's common, but worth it. I think if you have really bad side effects then you can try lowering your dose a bit, but you should definitely talk to a doctor about it. I am sure that it will help you see that it's worth it.

Be prepared for some hair loss. I didn't expect it, but it happened. It's not permanent, though. My hair grew back once I stopped taking it but I had to quit because of that. Still the side effects were manageable, but it made my life worse.

I've been on Methotrexate for about a year now, and it's been a game-changer for my psoriasis. The side effects were tough at first, but they've gotten much better. I've had to deal a bit with stomach pain and fatigue sometimes, but my doctor told me some over-the-counter meds and lifestyle changes could help me. It's definitely worth it for the improvement in my skin. My rash hasn't been this good in years.

Methotrexate helped my psoriasis too. I had a really bad reaction to it, though, and had to go to the ER. I had a bad allergic reaction, and it had to be cleared from my system and it wasn't fun. It has been years and I've not been on it since. They told me to never be on it again and I've learned my lesson. They gave it to my at a low dose, but it still didn't work. I think I'll have to try again at a higher dose and see if it works, though. It's all about what works for you.

Keep a close eye on your liver and kidney functions. Sometimes they can be damaged by methotrexate and you really don't want that. I was taking it for a long time and had to go off because of liver problems. Can't recover that. You really don't have the same quality of life when your liver or kidneys are damaged.

It's great that you're being proactive, but don't let the side effects scare you off. I'm not a doctor, but I know when I went on it, I read all the bad things. The doctor said when to stop and what to do if I had any of the side effects, but the problem was that I was scared, and they take a while to happen. If side effects happen, they happen late. It's the same for most meds. I think you'll like it a lot, though. Side effects are like those stupid signs at the movies: side effects are generally on the wrong side effects. Physically!
