Has anyone taken Aranesp 500mcg/ml (Darbepoetin alfa) and had any bad experiences?
I'm about to start using Aranesp 500mcg/ml (Darbepoetin alfa) for anemia due to my chronic kidney disease. I'm a bit nervous because I've heard some scary stories about side effects. Has anyone here taken this medication? What should I expect? I'd love to hear your experiences, good or bad, and any tips to manage side effects.

Do not take this drug. There are better things to take and talk to your doctor when you can about this medication.
If your symptoms are manageable, then it might be a good drug to take. If things get to bad, then call a doctor. Good luck!
I was on Aranesp for my anemia and it was a life saver. My doctor also had me on blood thinner (due to high risk of blood clots) as a precaution. I felt great and no major side effects. It could be due to the blood thinner, but I don't think so.
Has anyone experienced any skin reactions? My friend had a severe rash and it was scary.
I had some bad side effects, including severe headaches and shortness of breath. Talk to your doctor about it now before starting.
I took Aranesp during my chemo and it really helped with my energy levels. Just make sure to stay hydrated and monitor your blood pressure. It can shoot up if not managed.
Be very careful with this drug, I have had a friend who ended up in the hospital from it.
