I've been prescribed Cipro 500mg/5ml Suspension for a bacterial infection, but I'm really nervous about the side effects. The list is quite scary. I'm not sure if I should worry about these or expect everything to be okay. Has anyone taken this medication and experienced any of the severe side effects listed? If so, how did you handle it? I want to make sure I'm prepared for anything. I'm thinking about what to do if I start experiencing issues, especially during the night. I'm also wondering if there are any steps I can take to minimize the risk of these side effects. I really want to take this medication as prescribed, but the thought of something going wrong is keeping me up at night.

Put on a ton of sunscreen. I’d rather be a greasy mess than have some of the side effects that you’re worried about.

I had some leg cramps and couldn’t sleep well. Don’t know if those are common, but I had to google to make sure. Definitely a bummer when you can’t sleep.

I had mild diarrhea, nothing terrible. Just upped my water intake and it passed. I’m not sure how the suspension version compares to the pill version. I would ask your doctor about that too. Worst case scenario? Take some immodium and call it a day.

I took this for a severe case of diverticulitis after a week on the pill form and I started having trouble urinating. I found out that I had an enlarged prostate and that’s why I had trouble urinating. I switched to the suspension and it worked fine. I’m wondering if the suspension could have caused some of the issues. Long story short, I got back on my feet and finished the course.

My friend had a severe skin reaction to Cipro, and it was really scary. She ended up in the hospital for a while but recovered. Listen to your body and don’t take any chances. If something feels off, get to a doctor immediately. This might go against the grain, but your health is more important than finishing the course of medication.

I had to take a full course of Cipro for a lung infection and I felt fine. Yeah, I had a little diarrhea and some headache, but I just took some ibuprofen and it went away. I had a friend who had some of the more severe side effects though, so it’s definitely something to be aware of.
