I've been prescribed Ed-APAP 80mg/2.5ml Liquid for some aches and pains, and I've read that it can help with fever as well. I need to treat my pain ASAP. The prescription description warn against liver damage if not taken correctly. I've heard some horror stories about acetaminophen so I want to know what to expect. Is this medication as scary as everyone makes it out to be? I know it's not recommended to complicate prescriptions but I've been taking a painkiller and an SSRIs with no issues. Has anyone else had similar experiences? I also need to know if it's okay to take on an empty stomach. There's so much conflicting advice online. I want to be cautious but I need this to work.

This is the only thing that works for my headaches. Just make sure to stay hydrated while taking it and take it on a full stomach if you're worried about it upsetting your stomach. I've never had any problems and it's the best painkiller I've used.

I've been prescribed this medication for mild to moderate pain and it works like a charm! I've never experienced any side effects, but it is important to take it as directed. There's a reason these directions are written out clearly and it's important to take it seriously. I've had a few people in my family with liver issues so I'm extra cautious.

I don't like taking this medication on an empty stomach, it has a tendency to give me a stomach ache and makes me want to vomit. I take it with food and if I get a headache, I make sure to take it with something more than a snack.

I've had no side effects from this medication, but I've never taken it more than 48 hours at a time. Always err on the side of caution.

I had a bad reaction to acetaminophen once. It was scary, I developed a rash, was having trouble breathing and had to go to the ER after that. I'm not sure if it was the acetaminophen specifically or if it was an interaction with something else I was taking at the time. But I would avoid it if at all possible. Have you considered checking with your doctor to see if there are other options?

Just make sure to not have more than 800mg of acetaminophen in a single dose and 4000mg in a 24 hour period. The dosage will vary depending on the strength of the medication and if you hit the max, you don't want to be too impatient and risk liver damage. Can't stress that enough.

If you're concerned, talk to your doctor. There are other pain relievers out there. Why risk it?

Acetaminophen can be safe and effective when used correctly. The risks increase if you take more than the recommended dose or mix it with alcohol. It can be fatal in extreme cases but if you follow the prescription exactly I think you'll be fine. It's also important to note that acetaminophen is found in many over-the-counter medications, so be careful not to double dose. Always check the labels of other medicines you're taking.
