I've been prescribed Nitrofurantoin 25mg/5ml Oral Susp for a urinary tract infection. The doctor said it's important to take it with food or milk to help with absorption and reduce stomach upset. I'm a bit worried about the side effects, especially the serious ones like allergic reactions, pancreatitis, lupus, or nerve problems. Has anyone else taken this medication? I'd love to hear about your experiences and any tips you might have. What's the liklihood of the bad and how should I deal with them?

If you start feeling super tired and your skin or eyes turn yellow, that's a sign of liver problems. Definitely go to the doctor if that happens.

Serious question: How do you know if it's a normal upset stomach or something more serious like pancreatitis? I've had stomach pain before and it's scary.

I've taken Nitrofurantoin before and it worked wonders for my UTI. Just make sure to take it with food. I had some mild upset stomach, but nothing too bad.

I have nerve issues and was really nervous about taking this. My doctor said the risk is higher for people like me, but it's still low. I monitored myself closely and was fine.

I had hair loss from this. It sucked, but it grew back after I stopped taking it. Just a heads up.

I took it and my urine turned brown. The pharmacist said that's normal, but it was still weird. Other than that, no issues.

Be careful with the diarrhea side effect. I had a friend who ended up with C. diff-associated diarrhea and it was a nightmare. If you get severe diarrhea, talk to your doctor ASAP.
