I've been prescribed Sterapred DS 10mg Tab (prednisone) for the next 12 days, 48's total. My doctor says it's for an acute situation, but I'm worried about the possible side effects. I understand it's a steroid, and I know it can cause a range of issues from minor to serious. I have read the possible side effects, but the list is extensive. Has anyone taken this medication for a period like mine or longer? What was your experience? Are there any tips or tricks to managing the side effects? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've taken it a few times. The first two times were fine, but the third time I was super bloated. It was like I had an extra layer of fat. I'll avoid this stuff in the future

Prednisone is no joke. I had to take it for a while and it was awful. Just focus on getting through it and getting off it as soon as possible.

Definitely avoid taking prednisone for too long. It messed up my adrenal glands. This is the stuff that's hard to recover from

I've taken prednisone for a few months due to a bad case of asthma. The weight gain and mood swings were rough, but my doctor monitored me closely. Just make sure you stick to the prescribed dose and keep in touch with your doctor.

Be prepared for the insomnia. I had to start taking melatonin just to get some sleep. Also, watch your diet—you'll probably gain some weight.

I took Sterapred DS for a few weeks and the side effects were miserable. The worst was the skin changes, acne, and hair growth. It was awful.

I've taken this before and it wasn't bad at all. Just make sure you don't take it on an empty stomach and drink plenty of water. It's not fun, but it also isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

I took it for a short period and got some bruises easily. It seemed like a small thing, but it really sucks to be bruised up all the time. That and the mood swings

I don't have any experience with this but I have a friend who has taken it in the past and I will tell you, it was a nightmare.

I've had friends take this medication. The bigger side effect seems to be the mood changes, but everyone is so different. It's hard to tell how it will affect you.
