I've been prescribed Vancocin HCl 125mg Capsules to treat a severe case of diarrhea caused by C. diff. I've heard it can be tough on the system, so I'm looking to get some real-life experiences from anyone who has taken this. What were the side effects like? Did you have any issues with absorption or other complications? Any tips for managing the treatment would be greatly appreciated!

I wish this was a more straightforward drug but I remember the first time I took it for my C. diff infection, I was pretty nervous. The side effects can be awful if you’re not careful. I got some mild skin rashes which my doctor told me was due to allergies. I drank plenty of fluids and kept taking my Prolonged capsules as advised and everything went fine.

I went through the same thing last year and my main tip is to be patient. Don’t expect immediate results. I took the Vancocin and the diarrhea got worse for a bit before finally clearing up. Stomach pain and headaches were common too. My doctor explained that C. diff can be a tricky infection to treat, so patience is key. It was finally clearing up around the time the doctor said it would.

I work in a hospital and have seen patients on Vancocin. It’s tough, but it’s often the only thing that works for severe C. diff. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider and report any unusual symptoms immediately.

I took Vancocin for a C. diff infection last year. It was rough, but it worked. I experienced some stomach pain and diarrhea, which is ironic since I was taking it to stop diarrhea, but no serious side effects. Just make sure to stay hydrated and listen to your doctor's advice. It’s a powerful antibiotic, so take it as prescribed. Never skip any doses.

I heard it can mess with your hearing if you take it for a long time. Just something to keep in mind.

The worst part for me was the taste. I had to take it with some electrolyte drink to make it go down easier. I don't know how bad the side effects are for you but it was pretty standard for me.
