I've been dealing with a persistent cough and runny nose for over a week now, and I'm considering trying Capron DM 7.5-7.5mg/5ml Oral Liquid. I've read that it contains Dextromethorphan to stop the coughing and Pyrilamine to help with the runny nose and sneezing. I've also read that the medication can cause drowsiness. I'm worried about the side effects, especially the rare but severe allergic reactions. Has anyone had any experience with this medication, and if so, how did it go for you? I'd love to hear about your experiences and any advice.

I wouldn't risk it. Had a bad reaction to dextromethorphan once. I know some people like it because it is an antihistamine, but in my opinion, it's just not worth the risk. It's important to consult your doctor, especially if you have any allergies or existing conditions.

My throat got worse while I was on it. I think it might be because it can dry out your mucous membranes, but the doctor didn't think so. I don't have enough data to say with certainty, though.

I had a terrible allergic reaction to the oral liquid. I felt dizzy and had a tightness in my throat. I had to rush to the ER. I'd be careful and watch for signs of an allergic reaction.

I've been using it for the last couple of days and it has been a lifesaver for my cough and sneezing. Be sure to read the warnings and follow the dosage instructions closely. Keep in mind: some people are more sensitive to side effects, and I've read that some people in the past have experienced hives and trouble breathing. If you have any concerns about side effects, consult your doctor right away.

Have you tried any natural remedies? I've had good luck with honey and lemon. It might not work for a severe cold, but it's worth a shot. I've heard a lot of good things about Capron DM, but I believe in trying natural remedies before medications.

My doctor recommended Robitussin DM, but my pharmacy was out of it. Capron DM 7.5-7.5mg/5ml Oral Liquid helped with my cough. Make sure you're not allergic to any of the ingredients before taking it. Good luck!
