I've been struggling with extremely dry and irritated skin, especially during the winter months. My dermatologist recommended Dermabase Cream, which is supposed to create a protective layer to lock in moisture. I've started using it a few days ago, and while it feels soothing, I'm not sure if it's working as well as I hoped. Have any of you tried Dermabase Cream? What were your experiences? I've read about some serious side effects, but I'm hoping that's rare. Any tips or advice would be appreciated! Also, how long did it take for you to see improvements?

I think the key is to apply it right after a shower while your skin is still damp. It helps lock in moisture better.

I used it on my eczema-prone skin, and it was a disaster. Red, swollen, and very itchy. Not fun at all.

I tried it, but it didn't work for me. I had some skin irritation, and it felt like it was making things worse. Everyone is different so it may be worth seeing if you react differently.

I've had great results with Dermabase. I use it on my hands and feet, which tend to get really dry. It's a bit greasy, but it does the job.

I wish I had found this thread sooner. I've been struggling with dry skin for months, and I might give Dermabase a shot! How long did you say until you saw improvement?

Dermabase has saved my skin during long haul flights. I always pack some in my carry-on. Just a tiny bit goes a long way too.

If you're experiencing any signs of infection or severe allergic reactions, stop using it immediately and see a doctor. Better safe than sorry.
