I've been dealing with occasional constipation and my doctor prescribed Geri-Kot 8.6mg Tablets. The packaging says it works within 6 to 12 hours and is best taken at bedtime. I've seen some side effects listed like stomach pain or cramps, and some more serious ones like allergic reactions. Has anyone else used this and what were your experiences? How did you deal with the side effects if you did experience them? Were there any tips you learned for making the most of this medication?

Be careful with this stuff. Last thing you want is to be stuck in the bathroom all day with cramps.

I was surprised how fast it worked. Took it at night and had a bowel movement the next morning. No stomach pain or anything.

I've been using Senokot (same active ingredient) for years. It's reliable but can be harsh if you overuse it. Make sure to drink plenty of water and maybe ease into it if you're new to stimulant laxatives. It can cause some cramps, but they usually go away after a few uses.

I used it for a few weeks and it worked fine, but I've heard that long-term use can cause some issues. Maybe try diet and lifestyle changes first. I know it's annoying to hear this advice, but it's worth a shot

Be aware, it's super hard to find Geri-Kot. Usually easy to find Senokot or Dulcolax. I wonder if it's a different company's generic brand

I've used Geri-Kot before and it worked pretty well for me. I took it at bedtime and woke up with no issues the next morning. No side effects either.

Geri-Kot is just a brand of Sennosides, and there are lots of generics out there. If you're sensitive to lactose, stay away—but otherwise it's a good choice. If you're pregnant, nursing, or having abdominal pain you should talk to your doctor first
