I've been recently diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome and my doctor prescribed Hyoscyamine 0.125mg Sublingual Tabs. I'm a bit nervous about the side effects, especially the severe ones like hallucinations or difficulty urinating. Has anyone had experience with this medication? What were your side effects like? Did you find it helpful for your symptoms? Also, any tips on how to manage the side effects would be greatly appreciated. I'm hoping to hear from anyone who has tried this and can share their experience.

For anyone suffering from this, you're not alone. I had some bad days with this drug, but I had some better months. It's worth a shot, but be prepared. It's not a cure, it's just a tool. My best advice is to keep a record of your symptoms and decide from there. Good luck!

I tried it and got very confused. Also, I had diarrhea, which was the opposite of what I needed! So frustrating.

Watch out for the constipation! I had to switch to a different medication because it was too uncomfortable to deal with both IBS cramps and constipation. Plus, it causes sweating to stop. If you're taking it for IBS, you might want to find something that doesn't cause constipation.

What were the most severe side effects you experienced?

Did you experience any difficulty urinating? This scares me because I've heard of urinary retention as a side effect

My doctor didn't mention the side effects being this common. So, I had to go through it and learn the hard way.

I had a terrible experience with this. I had severe dizziness and ended up fainting. Not fun. Plus, I experienced changes in behavior, which was really scary. My doctor immediately switched me to something else. But I'm all better and feel lucky, because it was such a frightening experience. Also, check out the FDA reporting website, it's really easy to submit a report about these things. So many people can benefit from the info.

I found it to be really helpful, but make sure you have a safe place to rest. For the first few days, I was really tired and needed to sleep a lot. It was definitely worth it.

I took Hyoscyamine for a while and it did help with the cramps, but I had to stop because of the dry mouth. It was brutal. Try sipping water before you know you'll need the meds to counteract that side effect. Also, I had some blurred vision at first, but it went away after a few days.
