I've been struggling with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) for a while now, and my doctor recently prescribed Hyoscyamine 0.375mg ER Tablets. I'm a bit nervous about the potential side effects, especially the more serious ones. Has anyone here had any experience with this medication? I'm curious to know if it's helped with your symptoms and if you've encountered any side effects. Also, how did you find the dosages and timings? Did you need to adjust it over time? Thanks in advance for any insights!

I was on Hyoscyamine for a few months. It definitely helped with the cramps and spasms, but I did experience some dry mouth and dizziness. I found that taking it with food helped with the side effects a bit. This is a good article about the medication's effectiveness https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/1204199/

Good luck! I hope it works out for you. Just keep an eye out for any severe side effects and talk to your doctor regularly.

Dry mouth was the worst for me, but I managed it with sugar-free gum and lots of water. It's worth the trade-off for the relief from cramps

Be careful with this stuff. I had a really bad reaction—hallucinations and confusion. Had to stop taking it immediately. Not worth the risk for me.

I had to stop taking it because of the hallucinations. It was terrifying. Be very cautious and report any weird symptoms to your doctor. This article helped with more information https://www.nhs.uk/

I had some mild constipation and dry mouth, but nothing too bad. Definitely worth letting your doctor know if you experience any of those side effects. If side effects are worrying you, this article can help https://www.mayoclinic.org/

I've had good experiences with it for IBS. Increased control as well, so let's looks like it will be helpful for some symptoms

I found that taking it with food helped with the side effects a bit. It's a trial and error process

I switched to a lower dose and it helped with the side effects. Maybe talk to your doctor about starting with a lower dose?
