I’ve been dealing with some pretty bad chafing lately, and my doctor recommended Moisture Barrier Ointment. It’s supposed to protect the skin from irritation and provide a cooling sensation with menthol. Has anyone else tried this? I’m curious to hear about your experiences, especially regarding side effects. The possible side effects listed are a bit scary, like allergic reactions and trouble breathing. Has anyone had any issues like this, or was it smooth sailing? I’d love to know if it actually works well for chafing and irritation.

I used this on my kids for minor skin irritations and it worked well. Just make sure to keep it out of reach because kids will put anything in their mouth! I had a talk with them about how it's for outside use only.

Do you think the cooling sensation from the menthol actually helps with the irritation or is it just a placebo effect?

It's a lifesaver. I bike a lot and this has kept me from getting chafed up. Good luck, everyone. Also, if you do get a bad reaction, reporting it to the FDA is a good idea. If enough people report it, they might pull it from the shelves.

I had a bad reaction to it. Itchy and red skin is not fun. I had to go to the ER. Stay safe everyone

I’ve used it a few times and it’s been great for chafing. The cooling sensation from the menthol is really soothing. Just make sure to keep it away from your eyes!

Be careful with this stuff if you have sensitive skin. I’m sure it’s great for most people but it caused a rash for me. I switched to a different cream and it’s been fine since. Also, those side effects are no joke. If you start feeling weird, don’t mess around. It’s better to be safe and see a doctor.
