I've recently been prescribed Acyclovir Sodium 50mg/ml IV for a severe herpes infection. I switched to oral valacyclovir after the IV treatment. Much easier to manage side effects that way.
This stuff is no joke. I had hallucinations. Talked to my dog like he was my boss. Scary times.
Serious question: How bad is the injection site irritation? I've had issues with other IV meds in the past.
I work in healthcare and have seen a few patients go through this. The key is close monitoring, especially for kidney function. If you notice any changes in urine output or unusual fatigue, let your doctor know right away.
