I've recently been prescribed Acyclovir Sodium 50mg/ml IV for a severe herpes infection. I'm a bit nervous about the potential side effects, especially the serious ones like seizures and kidney problems. Has anyone else had experience with this treatment? How did you manage the side effects? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I switched to oral valacyclovir after the IV treatment. Much easier to manage side effects that way.

This stuff is no joke. I had hallucinations. Talked to my dog like he was my boss. Scary times.

Serious question: How bad is the injection site irritation? I've had issues with other IV meds in the past.

I work in healthcare and have seen a few patients go through this. The key is close monitoring, especially for kidney function. If you notice any changes in urine output or unusual fatigue, let your doctor know right away.

I've had a similar experience. The IV treatment was tough, but it worked. I had some nausea and fatigue, but nothing serious. Just make sure to stay hydrated and talk to your doctor about any concerns.

This thread is a great reminder that everyone's experience with meds can be different. Stay vigilant and listen to your body.
