Has anyone used Benzoyl Peroxide 5% Wash 142gm successfully for acne?

I've been struggling with acne for months now, and my dermatologist recommended trying Benzoyl Peroxide 5% Wash. I've read about the potential side effects, especially the urgent ones like allergic reactions, but I'm hoping to hear from others who have used this. Does it really work for acne? How often should you use it to see results? Does it leave your skin feeling dry or irritated? I'm a bit nervous about the side effects, so any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Be careful with this stuff, it can be harsh on the skin. I used it for a week and my skin was so dry and irritated I had to stop.

Just a heads up, if you start using this, make sure to stay out of the sun. It can make your skin more sensitive to UV rays.

I had a bad reaction to it and ended up with a rash. I had to stop using it right away, and I’m sure glad I didn’t have a severe reaction. I’m going to try a lower percentage next time. Anyone know if a lower concentration will still work?

I've had great success with Benzoyl Peroxide 5% Wash. I've been using it for about 2 months now, and my skin has cleared up significantly. I use it in the morning and at night. Definitely follow the instructions and give it time! I've had some dryness but it is manageable with a good moisturizer. Be sure to patch test and if you have really sensitive skin, it might be too much. I've also found that if I use a gentle face wash to cleanse before, I get the best results. And yes, it does help kill the acne bacteria, but it can dry out your skin if you aren't careful. I've learned to use it sparingly and gradually increase usage, and that has helped a lot. I've also noticed that using a non-comedogenic moisturizer helps to lock in moisture and prevent dryness.

I was really hesitant to try this because of all the horror stories, but I gave it a shot. I started slow and I've been using it every other night, and I've had no issues. I’ve noticed a little dryness, but I think I'm doing it right.
