I'm scheduled for a minor surgery next week and my doctor prescribed Bupivacaine/epineph 0.25% Inj, 30ml as a local anesthetic. I'm a bit nervous about the potential side effects, especially the urgent ones like allergic reactions or methemoglobinemia. Has anyone here had experience with this medication? I'd love to hear about your experiences, both good and bad. How long did the numbing effect last? Did you experience any of the side effects? How did you handle them? I'm also curious to know if the epinephrine in the mixture caused any noticeable effects, like increased heart rate or anxiety. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated! I want to be as prepared as possible for my procedure.

Please remember that the severe side effects are extremely rare. If you do experience them, go to the hospital. If you don't, you'll be fine. Good luck with your procedure, and I hope everything goes well!

I had this for a wisdom teeth extraction. The dentists told me it's a great anesthetic, but I got a bad bruise on my arm from the injection and it hurt like hell. It went away with a few days but I felt pretty awful the day after surgery. I don't know if it was from the anesthetic or the procedure, though.

I had a similar experience with a welt in the foot. The numbing effect worked great but I felt very lightheaded afterward. I was told it was because of the epinephrine. It was a bit scary but I didn't have any other bad side effects.

I had this for a cesarean section. It worked well and I didn't feel any pain during the surgery. However, I did experience some minor side effects like nausea and dizziness afterward. Plus, I felt really shaky for about an hour. It wasn't terrible, but it was definitely uncomfortable. Fortunately, my doctor was prepared and I got medicine to help me feel a little better. It's still a scary thing to experience.

I had no idea that this stuff had epinephrine in it. I am not sure how I feel about that. I guess it makes sense if you're trying to stop bleeding, but I am a little worried about the heart rate part.

I've never personally experienced this anesthetic, but I've heard great things. I once read a neurosurgical journal that stated bupivacaine is the go-to anesthetic for long-lasting numbness. If you're going under general anesthesia, I would be more worried about the patient who rips off their IV or breathing tubes when they wake up. Sometimes I read those articles just to calm myself before bed. I have a lot of anxiety about medical procedures. I have been in the hospital enough to know hospitals are scary places, but that's totally normal.

I had this for a dental procedure. The numbing effect was amazing and lasted for hours. I didn't feel any pain at all, but I did feel my heart racing a bit. It was manageable, though.

I had this for a small surgery. The numbing effect lasted for about 6 hours, and I only had minor side effects like a slight headache. It was nothing compared to the pain I would have had without the anesthetic. I didn't experience any of the severe side effects, but I did feel a bit anxious afterward. But, that's a possibility for anything with epinephrine, isn't it?

My sister is a nurse and she said that this is a very commonly used anesthetic and it's usually fine if you don't have a crazy allergy to it. I'd say it's a good idea to be prepared as you are, but don't freak out about it. So long as you're getting treated by a professional, you're in good hands.
