I've been prescribed Flurbiprofen 0.03% Ophthsoln 2.5ml eye drops as part of my pre-surgery regimen for cataract surgery. I am aware that it is an NSAID used for preventing pupil constriction and inflammation during surgery. I'm a bit nervous about the possible side effects, especially the burning or stinging sensation that can occur. Has anyone else had to use this and what was your experience with it? I'm curious to know if anyone had any issues with the solution or if it was fairly benign. I've heard that these drops can help to make the surgery smoother (though I'm not a medical professional and mainly heard this from my pre-op nurse). In any case, I figured I'd ask my fellow Redditors for some additional insights.

I’ve always preferred NSAIDs for eye problems. Flurbiprofen did the job, and I would recommend it to anyone in need of cataract surgery. The burning sensation wasn’t pleasant, but it was worth it in the long run. I hope you have a successful surgery!

Flurbiprofen really helped my surgery go smoothly. No major issues, but I did notice some burning when I put the drops in. Not too bad though.

I used these drops too. The side effects weren't bad, but make sure to avoid driving or operating heavy machinery after you use them. Had some temporary blurred vision, and you can't see clearly for a while.

The burning sensation was bad. The swelling was nothing I expected either, although my doctor said it was normal. I didn't enjoy them at all.

Flurbiprofen was a game changer. I felt so much better during the surgery. I'd recommend them to anyone getting cataract surgery.

I had no issues with Flurbiprofen. It worked great, and I didn't have any side effects at all. My doctor said I was lucky, though, as some people do have problems with it.

Be prepared for the feeling of having something in your eye—the burning sensation can be intense, but it doesn't last long. I’d advise using it exactly as prescribed and not more often. The oftentimes severe effects do not appear often, but the minor ones do, like blurred vision and temporary stinging.

I used Flurbiprofen and it worked well. I did have some burning, but that was about it. No serious side effects! If you're worried, just talk to your doctor. They can give you more advice, but it was safe for me.
