I've been trying to conceive for a while now, and my doctor recommended Follistim AQ. I'm a bit nervous about the side effects, especially the more serious ones. Has anyone had any experiences with this medication that they'd like to share? How do you handle the needle size? How are the side effects for the men? What are your doctors doing to monitor you and help with side effects?

Why are you having to use Follistim AQ? Did your doctor say what's wrong

I never got any side effects from Follistim AQ. I think it's a good medication and your doctor should be able to help you manage any side effects. Do you have a friend who can inject you? That helped me alot.

I had a terrible reaction to Follistim. After two doses I had to stop. A couple days after my first dose I had a fever and some pain in my legs. After the second dose I started having shortness of breath. I called my doctor and they told me to go to the hospital. The doctor at the ER told me to stop taking it immediately. I guess it wasn't for me.

Follistim AQ gave me horrible acne, like nothing I'd ever experienced. I was really self conscious. I ended up dropping the dose but then I started to have pelvic pain instead. I also tried to switch to a different kind of FSH, but it didn't work. I ended up not considering myself in the right state of mind to continue. I still think it's worth it for my family to try, and we're going to look at other options.

I used Follistim AQ for a few months and it worked for me. It did not feel like a horrible decision. I am not sure if that's a good thing, but it seems like it for me.
