I've been struggling with eczema for a while now, and my doctor recommended Hytone 2.5% Lotion. I've seen it reduce redness and swelling, but I'm worried about the potential side effects. Has anyone else used this lotion? How effective was it for you? What side effects did you experience? I'd really appreciate some insights and advice from those who have tried it. Thanks!

I've had great results with hydrocortisone before, so I'm hoping this works. It's worth checking if your skin gets worse after applying. I've heard you can go to urgent care and get a stronger, more targeted prescription.

I've used it and it works, but I have to clean and prep my skin carefully before applying. First, I wash the skin gently with a soft cloth and warm water. Then I let it dry completely, with a soft towel. Finally, I apply it in a thin layer, careful not to get any on my eyes or mouth. The last time I didn't do this, it burned pretty badly.

Seriously, be careful with this stuff. I used it as a kid and it worked okay, but my doctor had to start tapering me off before I could stop using it. I'm pretty sure they told my mom it could be addictive over the long term.

I haven't tried Hytone, but my doctor always warns me about the side effects of hydrocortisone. The thrush she usually prescribes has fewer side effects but is more expensive.
