I'm scheduled for eye surgery soon and my doctor prescribed Loteprednol 0.5% Opth Gel Drops 5gm for post-op care. I've read that it's a corticosteroid eye gel designed to reduce swelling, redness, and discomfort, but I'm a bit nervous about the potential side effects. Has anyone here used this medication? I'd love to hear about your experiences, both good and bad. What was the application process like? Did you have any side effects and if so, how did you deal with them? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated! If you're an expert (or even just know someone who's used it), I'd love to hear your input.

Be sure to follow the instructions carefully. If it's not aching, it could be something else. I couldn't figure it out with my doctor and I had to go in for another visit. In the end, the side effects weren't as bad as I expected. Just be sure to do so.

I had a little bit of pain and it wasn't so bad. I just wanted to know more than what the drug guide said. I had read a lot before going in and I was really nervous. I think it could have been better if I didn’t ask so much about it. It was fine. You should be ok!

I used it for a month after a corneal abrasion. The gel was a bit hard to apply at first, but I got the hang of it. No serious side effects, just a little temporary discomfort. I just did it for a bit and then it wasn't painful anymore. It was ok.

Eye pain and changes in eyesight could be really scary. I mean, I would love some more information. I knew it was a corticosteroid. I didn't know it could be overseen long-term.

What if you have it for an extended period of time. I mean, it is just eye drops but I don't know what it does long-term.

I was scared of the side effects too, but my doctor assured me they were rare and it helped me a lot. I'm glad I did it. I just did it once a day for about a week and it worked. I didn't have to do more.

I used this after my cataract surgery and it was a lifesaver. My redness and discomfort went away in no time, and I didn't have any major side effects. Just a little bit of temporary pain after using the gel. I put it in my refrigerator before using it and it felt great to use the cold gel.
