Has anyone used Neo/poly/hc 1% Otic Susp for swimmer's ear? What was your experience like?
I recently got prescribed Neo/poly/hc 1% Otic Susp for swimmer's ear and I'm a bit nervous about the potential side effects, especially the hearing loss. Has anyone else used this medication? I'd love to hear about your experiences, both good and bad. How long did it take for the infection to clear up? Did you experience any side effects? Any tips for applying the drops would be greatly appreciated as well. I'm trying to be as careful as possible, but I'm worried about making things worse.

This medication works great, but I agree, the side effects scare me. I'd recommend talking to your doctor about any concerns you have. They can provide more specific advice based on your medical history.
I've used it a few times and it always works well for me. Just be careful not to get any water in your ear while you're using it. That can make things worse.
I had to use it for a week, and it was awful. I had trouble sleeping because of the itching and discomfort. It was hard. I’m sure anyone could experience side effects, but luckily, they seemed to go away after I stopped using the medication.
Just make sure to finish the full course of treatment, even if your symptoms clear up before you finish the bottle. It's important to kill all the bacteria to prevent the infection from coming back. Trust me, a relapse of this is awful and I've had to see my doctor again for extra antibiotics.
Be careful with it. I had a friend who used it and ended up with some serious ear irritation. Make sure to follow the instructions to the letter.
Make sure you tilt your head correctly when applying the drops. It really helps with distribution and absorption. I also found that it relieved the pain within a few days.
One thing I noticed is that the drops can be a bit messy. I recommend lying down on your side with a towel under your ear to catch any drips. It also makes it easier to get the drops into your ear, especially for your grandkids who also have a hard time keeping their head still.
I had a friend who ended up with a bad case of ear irritation from this stuff. It's hard to say if it was because of the medication or because of other factors. Severe reactions do sometimes happen though, and you need to take it seriously.
I had a terrible experience with this medication. I developed severe itching and redness around my ear. I had to discontinue the medication and ended up switching to a different treatment. I've had to get different antibiotics for bacterial ear infections before and they worked fine.
