I've recently been prescribed Santyl 250u/gm Ointment 30gm for a persistent bedsore. The doctor says it's great for breaking down dead tissue and promoting faster healing. I've read about some potential side effects, though, and I'm a bit nervous. Has anyone else used this ointment? What were your experiences like? How did you manage any side effects that came up? Were there any tricks or tips you found especially helpful? I'd love to hear from anyone who has gone through this before. Thanks in advance!

I got this for a skin ulcer and it worked like a charm. The key is to keep the wound clean and change the dressing regularly. Make sure to follow your doctor’s instructions to the T to avoid infections.

Make sure you're not sensitive to bovine collagen. I had a friend who had a terrible allergic reaction because it wasn't covered in the first appointment.

I had an allergic reaction to it once, so be very careful. Check with your doctor as soon as possible if you notice any redness, swelling, or itching.

I've used it for my diabetic foot ulcers. It really sped up the healing process, but I did have some itching. The doctor assured me it was normal, but it was a bit uncomfortable. I kept using the ointment with no problem. My best advice is to clean the area around the wound with an antibacterial agent and to make sure to give it enough time to heal. Good luck!

I would recommend this for burns and skin ulcers. I was worried about the side effects but had no issues. Just a little bit of burning at first, but it went away. I really noticed the change. Easier healing even on deep skin damage.

It’s a great product but smells pretty bad. I found a trick to keep the smell to a minimum. Use it sparingly but regularly. The smell will still be there but not as bad. Try to keep the wound covered with gauze for a few hours after applying.

Great advice! I always make sure to wear gloves because it’s really tough to get off your hands.
