I've been prescribed Subsys 400mcg for breakthrough cancer pain, and I'm a bit nervous about starting it. It's supposed to work quickly but the side effects list is scary. Has anyone else used this? How did you handle the side effects? Specifically I want to hear about anyone who experienced GI discomfort or trouble breathing. Did you just deal with it or go to the hospital?

I had a bad experience with Subsys. I got severe constipation and had to go to the ER. They gave me a $500 bill. Plus, I had a weird rash that I don't think was an allergic reaction but it was pretty bad too. Ended up switching to something else.

I didn't have any major issues but I am so TERRIFIED of the thought of breathing problems. I know they're rare but still scary.

I’ve found that keeping a detailed log of how I feel after using Subsys helps me manage the side effects better. I share this with my doctor during our regular check-ins and it helps us make adjustments to other medications or supplements I can take. Be honest and open with your doctor.

Oh my gosh, I had the worst headache and felt like I was going to pass out the first time I used it. Definitely call your doctor if you feel anything that extreme. But yeah, it does work really fast.

I've been on Subsys for a while and I just found out I might have serotonin syndrome. I was taking some other medication for anxiety and it turns out it doesn't mix well. So be careful!!

I've been on Subsys for a few months now. The first week was rough; I had terrible constipation and felt dizzy all the time. But my doctor gave me some tips and it got better. I take stool softeners daily, and I drink plenty of water. I also have to be careful with other medications because of the serotonin syndrome risks, but my doctor and pharmacist helped me sort that out.

I've tried everything to avoid opioids but nothing has worked. I'm glad Subsys is an option, but the risks are serious. Stay vigilant, folks! Please report any side effects to the FDA.

This medication is so strong, it really helped to stop an episode of breakthrough pain, but I wish I had known more about the potential side effects before I started. I ended up being in the hospital for a few days because of trouble breathing and it was scary. I'm much more careful now, and my doctor had to adjust my medication.

I've used it a few times and it's helped a lot with my pain. I just make sure to drink a lot of water and eat a fiber rich diet to avoid constipation. I asked my doctor before I started and he said he would check in on me regularly to make sure I'm not having too many issues.
