I've been prescribed Ferate 240mg (27 Elemental) Tabs to treat my anemia. The doctor said it's an iron supplement that will help increase my iron levels and improve my blood oxygenation. I'm a bit worried about the side effects, especially the urgent ones. Has anyone else taken this? What were your experiences? I'm curious about people's experiences with the side effects, especially the gastrointestinal ones. Did anyone notice a change in stool color to green? Did you experience any of the nasty side effects that warrant a trip to the ER? What was that like? How long did the side effects last? How did your doctor help you manage them? Did anyone have reactions like hives, rash, or itching? Any tips on managing the more minor symptoms like constipation or stomach cramps? Thanks!

Just want to add that if you're taking Ferate, make sure to report any side effects to the FDA. This way, they can track any issues and help make better drugs for everyone in the future. You can call them at 1-800-332-1088 or go online to https://www.fda.gov/medwatch. Safety in numbers!

Did anyone else notice their stool turning green? It freaked me out at first, but my doctor said it's just the iron.

This thread is giving me second thoughts. I really need to up my iron levels, but I'm afraid of these side effects. I guess I have to talk to my doctor about possible alternatives? Maybe go for something less concentrated?

I took Ferate for a few months and it really helped with my anemia. I did experience some constipation, but it was manageable with some dietary changes. Make sure to drink plenty of water and eat fiber-rich foods.

I found that taking Ferate with food helped a lot with the stomach issues. I also had some stomach cramps, but they went away after a few weeks. Plus, I didn't notice any of the severe allergy symptoms, thank goodness.

I swear, medications are just the worst. This one turned my stool green, and my sister was on another that turned her pee bright blue. It's like pharmacists have no imagination.

I had a really bad reaction to Ferate. I started vomiting blood and had to go to the ER. It was terrifying. Turns out I was allergic to one of the ingredients. So please, be careful and if you experience anything urgent, go to the hospital immediately

I've been on Ferate for about a month now, and I've had no issues. My iron levels are back to normal, and I feel so much better. Definitely recommend it, and for me, the urgent side effects were luckily not a problem.
