I was recently prescribed Heparin Sod 10,000u/ml Inj, 1ml to prevent blood clots post-surgery. I've heard horror stories about the side effects, and I'm scared. Can someone share their experience with this medication? What should I be on the lookout for?

Sorry to hear you're going through this. Just remember, Heparin is a powerful drug and it can save lives. Be vigilant, and don't hesitate to call your doctor if something feels off.

I had a friend who was on Heparin, and she had to be hospitalized for a blood clot in her leg. Turns out, she was also on birth control, which increased her risk. Hormonal contraceptives + heparin = bad news.

Heparin injections can cause some serious side effects, like bleeding and allergic reactions. Make sure you know the signs and have a plan in case something goes wrong. Safety first!

I've been on Heparin for years due to a genetic clotting disorder. It's crucial to monitor your INR levels regularly. I check mine weekly, and my doctor adjusts the dose accordingly. It's a bit of a hassle, but it's kept me safe.

I had to use heparin after surgery. The nurses taught me how to do subcutaneous injections myself. It wasn't so bad once I got the hang of it. Plus, I had a cute little bandage to cover the injection site.

I've heard that switching to a different blood thinner might be an option if you're having bad reactions. Ask your doctor about alternatives like warfarin or the newer oral anticoagulants.

Watch out for those neurological symptoms! Blurred vision, confusion, slurred speech... If you notice any of that, get to the ER ASAP.

OMG, I had Heparin and it was a nightmare. I ended up in the ER with severe bruising and internal bleeding. Scariest experience of my life.

This medication can literally be lifesaving - for example, heparin is often used in the treatment of PE (pulmonary embolism). Just make sure your doctor is monitoring you closely.

Be prepared for some discomfort at the injection site. I used to get these weird burning sensations in my feet too, but my doctor assured me it was normal. It went away after a few days.
