I was just prescribed Betaxolol 0.5% eye drops. I just got a new 10ml bottle and was just reading up on it (including some of the scary side effects). Has anyone had good or bad experiences with this medication? Did you have any effects from it that were concerning? How long did any symptoms last? I have high pressure in my eye, and I am already worried about some of the side effects, mostly after seeing the urgent care ones. Thank you in advance for any helpful info! I am really hoping it works and my vision doesn't get worse.

Betaxolol works for me, so I am really glad to hear it works for others too. My only advice: don't miss a dose. I have to put the drops in my eye twice a day and if I miss a day, I know my eye pressure is going to be higher the whole rest of the week.

I've had some minor irritation from it, it did burn a bit. But it went away after a few seconds and it was fine. I've got a lot of faith in my eye doctor and he said it would be fine. So far, so good.

I had a bad reaction to the drops but I don't know if I should trust my doctor. I am going to get a second opinion.

Sounds like the burning you're experiencing is normal. My doctor warned me and I have just been dealing with it. The burning goes away after a few seconds and it's not a big deal.

I switched to Timolol because Betaxolol was making my asthma worse. Something to consider if you have a history of respiratory stuff. Be safe out there.

Be careful with this stuff. I had to switch because it was giving me really bad headaches. I'm not sure if it was from the eye drops or not, but it was enough to make me worry more about my eye pressure. If that happens to you, you should probably stop using it and talk to your doctor.

If you're worried, try taking the drops at night before bed. That way, if you do have any irritation, you won't have to deal with it during the day. This has worked well for me.
