Hospital IV Use: What to Expect with Sodium Chloride 0.9% Injection
I've been hospitalized a few times and have received Sodium Chloride 0.9% Injection (Sod Chloride 0.9% Inj, 125ml) through my IV. It's a sterile salt water solution commonly used to replenish fluids, dilute other medications, or flush the IV line. I'm curious about the side effects. Has anyone else experienced any, or am I extra sensitive?

It's mind-boggling how common this is and how people don't know about the possible side effects. Always good to be informed before you go into the hospital.
I had a pretty bad reaction to it once. I broke out in hives and had trouble breathing. Definitely get medical help right away if that happens to you.
I had to get this IV and flush it every 12 hours and it worked well. Sometimes it would stinge when it got close to IV site but no real issues.
I had to have IV fluids for dehydration and they used this. It worked well and didn't have any issues but I didn't know what to expect. I wish I had known more about the possible side effects beforehand. Be careful, everyone.
I've had this before and didn't experience any side effects. I’m thankful for the medical care!
This is so common in hospitals, people need to be more aware. It can cause severe allergic reactions, so it's important to be vigilant.
I had an allergic reaction to this and had no idea it was even possible. Had to get medical attention and it was really scary. I hope if you are getting it you will be closely monitored.
I was asked to take this as a treatment and the doctor explain that my reaction was due to an allergic reaction. It was a real learning experience.
I work in a hospital and we use this all the time. It's crucial for flushing IV lines, but we always monitor for reactions and make sure we check for side effects.
