Hospital Staff: Has Anyone Here Had Serious Side Effects From Betasept 4% Surgical Scrub Liquid?
I've been using Betasept 4% Surgical Scrub Liquid for a while now, and I've recently started noticing some itching and dryness on my hands. I'm not sure if it's a reaction to the Betasept or just the constant hand washing. Has anyone else experienced similar side effects? I've also heard of some serious side effects, so I'm a bit worried. If you've had any issues with this product, I'd love to hear your experiences and what you did to mitigate them. Thanks in advance!

My hands are always dry, but I just figured it was part of the job. I'll give that lotion thing a try, thanks!
I've used Betasept for years and never had any issues. Maybe try using gloves more often, or switching to a different brand of scrub to see if the problem persists.
I've heard some people have issues with Betasept. I'm just typically a wimp when it comes to any hand sanitizer that isn't alcohol. I'm allergic to everything.
I've had some itching too. I started using a moisturizing lotion after every wash, and it's helped a lot.
I had a pretty severe allergic reaction to Betasept a few years ago. It was terrifying, I started to feel like my throat was closing up. I ended up in the ER, and they told me to avoid that product. I never really got an answer as to what caused that reaction.
Doesn't the betadine smell just make you feel clean? I've never noticed any side effects, but I can't stand the smell of betadine.
Our hospital switched to Betasept a while back, but I think the nurses in my department are a bit too quick to use it. If you think you might be having a reaction, tell someone, don't wait for it to get worse.
I switched to a different brand after hearing about the serious side effects. I was lucky and did not experience any issues, but I couldn't find any reason to risk it. It's always better to be safe.
Wow, I had no idea Betasept could cause such severe reactions. I'm going to be more cautious with it.
