I was just prescribed Primidone 125mg Tablets to help control my seizures (epilepsy). It's a bit overwhelming to start a new medication, especially one that affects brain activity. I've read that it gets converted into phenobarbital in the body, which I also know is a medication. I think I'm a bit concerned because there's a long list of side effects. I've also heard something about an increase risk in suicidal thoughts. Has anyone else had experience with this medication? If so, what can I expect or what should I be looking out for?

Primidone 125mg tablets are known to have some serious side effects. Please do not ignore the warnings about fever, chills, or sore throat. I know someone who actually had a severe allergic reaction that could have been life-threatening. Just be careful, and if you notice anything unusual, go to the doctor right away.

It's true that this medication can increase the risk of suicidal thoughts, especially in people with a history of depression or anxiety. Stay in close contact with your healthcare provider, and if you experience any sudden mood shifts or changes in behavior, reach out immediately.

I started Primidone a few weeks ago and I'm finding it helpful. The side effects were annoying in the beginning, but they've mostly subsided now. Dizziness and fatigue were the worst but they got better. Make sure to take it with food, that helped a lot with the upset stomach.

I just read the list of side effects and I seriously don't know how you are taking this. I think I couldn't handle the anxiety and depression risk. Are there any alternatives to Primidone you are considering?

For me, the worst side effect is the drowsiness. But it's a small price to pay for not having seizures anymore. I've also noticed that if I skip a dose, I get withdrawal symptoms which can be very uncomfortable. So, please always stick to your schedule.

Watch out for the balance problems, they can be pretty bad. I've tripped and fallen a few times when I first started taking it. It's scary stuff.

I agree with the last comment, but don’t let it freak you out. Just be careful and keep an open dialogue with your doctor. For me, Primidone has been a game-changer, and most of the side effects are manageable.

The best tip I can give you is to avoid using any alcohol while on this medication. It can make the side effects worse and potentially more dangerous.
