I recently started taking But/aceta/caff/cod Cap 50-325-40-30 for my tension headaches, and it's been a bit of a rollercoaster. On one hand, the combination of butalbital, acetaminophen, caffeine, and codeine seems to work wonders for the pain. On the other hand, I've experienced some significant side effects like dizziness and drowsiness, which can be a real drag. I've been hesitant to stop taking it because the pain relief is so effective, but I worry about long-term effects and dependency. Has anyone else had similar experiences with this medication? It's hard to find a good balance between managing the pain and dealing with the side effects. Are there any alternatives that work just as well but with fewer risks? Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

I’m trying a different approach. Getting physical therapy and doing more exercises to deal with the tension. It seems to help a lot and hopefully, I won’t have to come back to this. At least it gives my body a break from all the meds.

I took this for a while and ended up switching to a different combination because of the risks of dependency. Try adding a muscle relaxant in the mix instead. My doc recommended a different combination of meds and it worked wonders without feeling like I need it again and again.

Have you tried any over-the-counter options? Sometimes a good old ibuprofen or something with magnesium can do wonders for tension headaches.

I’ve had such a hard time with headaches, but I’m trying to avoid this medication because of the codeine. I was worried about addiction.

I was always suspicious of the codeine in this drug. It’s a relief to know there are people who have found alternatives that work too.

I’ve never had side effects with this medication. I wonder how often it might be different for people.

I remember when I stopped using this drug after having a breakthrough of panic attacks. I was lucky to have an amazing doctor who took care of withdrawal symptoms. Do not try to stop alone.

The caffeine in this medication helps clear my head. This is fantastic. But when it gets tiring, my foggy brain takes over

This medication has a lot of side effects but boy, it works for me. I’m hoping long term I won’t run into any issues.
