I've been suffering from seasonal allergies and a persistent cough, and my pharmacist recommended Histex-DM Syrup. I'm curious to know if anyone has tried this and found it effective? I'm particularly interested in how well it handles nasal congestion and coughs. Also, does anyone know if it causes drowsiness? I need to stay alert during the day. Thanks for any insights you can share! I read the warning for anaphylaxis and I was wondering if there are any other alternative that are much safer. I am in general very sensitive to most medication.

I've had good luck with Histex-DM. As long as I take it at night, I don't have problems with drowsiness during the day.

I switched from Histex-DM to a different brand because it made me extremely dizzy. I could barely function. I heard it's because of the decongestant in there. I am lucky my doc was able to prescribe me something else right away.

This is the first time I've heard of Histex-DM. Is it approved by the FDA? How come I've never seen it in my local pharmacy?

I loved that it had a cough suppressant. I've taken other allergy meds that didn't do anything for my cough.

I've had really bad allergic reactions to antihistamines before, so I avoid anything with triprolidine. But my doctor mentioned that Histex-DM is generally well-tolerated. I still prefer to get allergy shots and prescribe me Singulair, which seems to work better for me.
