I've been prescribed Lurasidone 20mg Tablets for bipolar depression and I've heard it's important to take it with food. Does anyone else take it for bipolar disorder? What's your experience like? I've also heard there can be quite a few side effects—has anyone dealt with any? In the past, I've had issues with weight gain on other medications, so I'm really hoping to avoid that. How are you finding the medication in terms of side effects and overall effectiveness?

I wish I could say the same. I've been dealing with some pretty bad fatigue and weight gain. I'll definitely talk to my doctor on my next visit.
Definitely take it with food. I tried it on an empty stomach once and felt nauseous all day.
Make sure you're taking it at the same time every day. Consistency is key with this medication.
I took it with food and it did help. I wish they would make more medicines that could be taken without food or equally with or without food. AS the case may be there could be a lot of benefit to the users. I have another medication where it's not recommended to take it with food, which can be a hassle.

I've had to stop taking it because of the hormonal changes. It was really messing with my menstrual cycle and causing some other issues.
I took it for a bit but it was not a good experience. I had a severe allergic reaction. I would recommend anyone else to make sure you are aware of any of the symptoms of an allergic reaction. My lips and face felt swollen and I could not swallow. I started having trouble breathing and had to go to the hospital. I would recommend anybody who has this reaction to go to the ER immediately.
