How has Vimpat (Lacosamide 50mg) helped or affected you?
I was recently prescribed Vimpat 50mg for my epilepsy. I've been on it for a couple of weeks now, and I'm curious to hear from others who have experience with this medication. How has it worked for you? Have you experienced any side effects? I've been feeling a bit dizzy and tired, but my doctor assures me this is normal. I'm just wondering what to expect in the long run. Any insights or tips would be appreciated!
For those who don't know, Vimpat is used to treat seizures by calming overactive nerves in the brain. It can be used alone or with other seizure medicines. However, it does come with a list of potential side effects, ranging from mild to severe. I'm hoping to hear some positive stories to help me stay optimistic.

I was worried about the suicidal thoughts side effect, but my psychiatrist assured me it's rare. Just make sure you have regular check-ups and keep the lines of communication open with your doctor.
I was nervous about the side effects, so my doctor started me on a low dose and gradually increased it. It's made the transition a lot easier. Maybe ask your doctor about that?
I've had some luck with Vimpat, but I still get the occasional seizure. It's not a cure-all, but it definitely helps. I've also noticed some blurred vision, but it's not too bad. How bad are the side effects you're experiencing?
Vimpat saved my life. I was having seizures multiple times a day, and now I'm down to maybe one every few months. It's worth the side effects, in my opinion. I wish you the best!
I had double vision for the first few weeks, but it went away. It was pretty annoying, but I'm glad I stuck it out. Hopefully, your side effects will fade too!
I had a friend who had a bad reaction to Vimpat. Swollen glands, fever, the works. Scary stuff. Just be careful and report anything unusual to your doctor immediately.
I've been on Vimpat for about 6 months now. It's been a game-changer for me. My seizures have reduced significantly, and the side effects were manageable. Just stick it out for the first few weeks, and you should see improvements!
How long have you been on Vimpat? Sometimes it takes a while for the body to adjust. If you're still feeling bad after a month or so, maybe talk to your doctor about adjusting the dose or switching meds.
