I've been recently prescribed Nitroglycerin 0.3mg SL Tabs 100 for my infrequent but painful angina episodes. The doctor said it should relieve my chest pain quickly by dilating the blood vessels and increasing oxygen to my heart. However, I'm quite nervous about the potential side effects, especially the severe ones like abnormal heartbeat or allergic reactions. I've read that some people experience mild side effects like dizziness, headache, or a burning sensation under the tongue, but how bad can these get? And how likely am I to experience the really serious stuff? I'm curious if anyone else has been on this medication and can share their experiences or tips on managing the side effects. I'm considering talking to my doctor about a lower dose to minimize the risks, but I'm not sure if that's a safe option. I want to be prepared for anything, so any insights would be really helpful. Thanks in advance, everyone!

Dude, this thread is freaking me out. I better check in with my doc soon. I didn't realize these could be so bad. But if it helps with the pain, it might be worth it.

Be careful with Nitro! The strange tingling and burning under the tongue are weird but tolerable, but make sure you sit down when you take it because the dizziness can hit you like a truck.

I've had a couple of episodes where I took the nitro and felt like my heart was pounding out of my chest. It was scary, but I called my doctor and they said it was just a really strong reaction to the drug. It did pass quickly. Still, if it happens more frequently, that's when you need to definitely call the doc.

I doubt the FDA would allow anything too dangerous on the market. Just be smart about it. Take it when you need it, not just because you're worried. Trust your doctor and follow instructions.

If you're worried about the severe side effects, ask your cardiologist about alternative options. I didn't have to worry about them as much with a different treatment.

I think the worst part for me was the flushing. I'd get red as a tomato and feel like everyone could see my heart issues. Super embarrassing, but I'd rather deal with that than the chest pain

Yep, total game-changer for me! I was really nervous at first, but seriously, the relief is almost instant.
