Hi everyone, I've just started Monoferric infusions for my severe iron deficiency anemia, after trying oral iron supplements with no success. My doctor suggested this IV treatment since I desperately need to boost my iron levels fast. I’ve had the first infusion and I'm not sure what to expect in the coming weeks. How many infusions will I need? Will I feel better quickly, or is it a slow process? I'm feeling anxious about potential side effects too, especially the allergic reactions. Has anyone else had these infusions and what was your experience? Help!

My doctor said that Monoferric is one of the fastest ways to get iron levels up quickly. It's also less likely to cause constipation than oral iron, but you have to be careful of side effects.

Good luck with your infusions. I had mine a few years ago and I felt a bit tired afterwards, but no major issues. Just make sure to drink plenty of water before and after.

Why would oral iron supplements not work? I thought they were effective. This IV stuff sounds scary.

I just finished my course of Monoferric. I had some hives and itching at the start, but it went away after the first couple of infusions. My doctor said that's not uncommon. I didn't have any issues with the medication leaking, but make sure the nurse is experienced.

I'm on my third infusion. So far, so good. No side effects but I have noticed some stomach upset after my infusions. I've been eating a few crackers before because it seemed to help a little

Be very careful with these infusions. My mom had a bad reaction during her first one. She started feeling dizzy and had trouble breathing. They stopped the infusion immediately and she was fine after some treatment.

I had monoferric infusions and I got a bad brown stain at the injection site. It's still there after a year. Make sure the nurse checks for leakage. I wish I had known that could happen
