I recently needed emergency treatment for very high blood pressure. The only medication they could get through an IV was Nicardipine 40mg/200ml. Immediately, I felt relieved as the IV drip started but I was also worried about the possible side effects. The nurse told me that this medication is used to lower blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels. I want to know what side effects other people experienced and what precautions I should take in the future. I want to be prepared if I have to take this medication again. I know that some people can experience serious side effects like severe dizziness, fainting, fast or abnormal heartbeat, chest pain, and shortness of breath. These symptoms can potentially be life-threatening so I want to make sure I know them by heart. Additionally, I should look out for vein irritation at the injection site.

Always keep your phone ready to call 911. I saw someone have a severe allergic reaction when they started the drip. Everyone was worried but she ended up okay.

I am so glad IV Nicardipine works fast. The venom in my veins dissipated the instant the IV was administered in the ER and my BP was down in an hour. Those few minutes of waiting were the worst anxiety I've had in years.

I've been given Nicardipine before, and it worked wonders for my blood pressure, but it did make me dizzy and flushed.

This stuff hits fast! I was on the verge of passing out. The emergency room admin said That was the quickest anyone has reacted to Nicardipine in their ER. I've had a few others medications that were IV and it felt like it took hours for them to work.

I’ve never had any severe side effects, but I did experience some fatigue and weakness afterwards. I'd recommend drinking plenty of water and taking it easy after treatment.

I've had high blood pressure for years and Nicardipine was a game-changer. I'm so glad my doctor recommended it. I was worried about the side effects, but honestly, they were minor compared to how much better I felt afterwards.

This stuff is literal magic. It's a pity other medicines are not as effective.

The nurse warned me about the vein irritation. I didn't experience much redness, but the burning sensation was unpleasant. If you're administered Nicardipine, request warm compresses.

I had a bad reaction to Nicardipine, so they switched me to another medication. I got a severe rash and my throat felt like it was closing up. Terrifying stuff.

If you do experience any of the urgent side effects, don't wait it out. My girlfriend had chest pain and we drove to the ER instead of calling 911. 24 hours later, we were still in the hospital. 911 would have come faster to the hospital.
