I was given Lidocaine/epinephrine for a dental procedure and I’m freaking out about the side effects. What can I expect?
Hello, everyone! I just had a dental procedure where I was given Lidocaine/epinephrine 2% Inj. I'm a bit worried because I had a mild reaction after my last anesthesia experience. Can anyone share their experiences with this medication? I've read about the side effects and it's a long list that's pretty scary. Most of my worries are from the rare reactions, such as methemoglobinemia. I've been checking the list for the rare side effects, but I'd love any insights on how serious or common these reactions really are in comparison to the more common symptoms that may occur.

One thing you should know: the epinephrine in it can make your heart race a bit. It happened to me, but it was mild and went away quickly. Just something to be aware of. It helps control bleeding, so it’s worth it for the procedure, but just be prepared. I also had a bad headache after the numbing wore off, but again, that was temporary.
Relaxing my anxiety, I would say.
I think the side effects list can be overwhelming, but remember, these are rare. I had this for a root canal and the only thing I noticed was a bit of dizziness, but it went away quickly. Just listen to your body and if anything feels off, head to the doctor.
Hey, I had the same thing for a wisdom tooth extraction. I was nervous too, but honestly, I felt fine afterward. Just a bit numb for a while, nothing major. I'd call your dentist if you feel worried, though.
I’ve been on the other side of this as a nurse. I've seen a few patients have reactions, but most of the time, they're minor. Just keep an eye out for anything unusual, and if you feel something strange, let your doctor know right away. It’s always better to be safe.
I’ve seen a lot of people worry about this, but it's important to remember that while the side effects sound scary, they're really rare. Most people have a simple experience with no issues at all. I use this for every dental procedure, and I’ve had two or three instances. Although there was that time I had a weird tingling sensation for a few days, but nothing severe.
