I was recently prescribed Nitrostat 0.4mg(1/150gr) tablets to help manage my angina. The doctor explained that this medication contains nitroglycerin, which works by relaxing blood vessels to help more blood and oxygen reach the heart. My doctor recommended taking it sublingually, meaning I place the tablet under my tongue where it can be absorbed directly into the bloodstream. I would like to know more about the known side effects, how long it takes to work, and if anyone has any experience with this medication. I've heard that there are some severe side effects that require immediate medical attention, which I'm a bit worried about. What has been the experience of others with this medication?

I've been using Nitrostat for a few months now, and it's been a lifesaver. I keep the tablets in a small case in case they are needed. It usually takes about 3-5 minutes for my chest pain to ease up. As for side effects, I've had a bit of headaches, but nothing too severe. The doctor also told me to watch out for any signs of allergic reactions, but I haven't had any of those.

I have a great doctor. He told me to keep a record of every time I take it. That way, I can see if I need to change something in my lifestyle and if my body is getting used to it. I have been keeping a log for a few months now and it has been really helpful.

I was so worried about all the side effects. But what really helped me were conversations with my doctor. She gave me a step-by-step guide on what to do if I have any side effects, and that really put me at ease.

Be careful with the storage. Instructions say it should be stored at room temperature. Also, you need to be careful about who is around the tablet. Kids and pets can be harmed if they find it. I need to remember to store it in the locked box.

I was also prescribed Nitrostat and I was terrified, as I have heard about its side effects. I was so scared that I wouldn’t be able to handle the medication. But the pharmacist gave me instructions and told me to be aware of the symptoms that require immediate medical attention. The most severe side effects should never be ignored.

I can't imagine what you guys are going through, but I really sympathize with you. Nitroglycerin is something you need to be aware of and really know how to manage. The doctor will be your biggest help in this situation. It has to be used properly and stored well.

Man, I got this thing when I had my heart attack. I had severe dizziness and fainting episodes. Really scary stuff. I speak with someone who has had the same symptoms. The fluctuations in heartbeat are not pleasant and must be taken care of. Had to make a lot of lifestyle changes after that. Basically I have to take it easy and don’t do any heavy lifting. Take care and consult your healthcare provider.

Do you experience headaches after taking it? I feel like it's a trade-off, but then I feel tired and weak on the medication. I was prescribed it a few months ago and I'm just noticing this. If it happens to me often then I should probably talk to a doctor
