Im gonna be able to drive in 2 years and i would like some
Hey guys, I'm really excited because I'll be able to drive in 2 years and I want to start planning ahead. Specifically, I’m looking for suggestions on good first cars. I live in the EU, so I figure it makes sense to look at European cars since they should be cheaper and more readily available as used cars. I don't have a specific model in mind, but space is a big factor, as I'll be driving my family on road trips and I want to avoid any cheap imports. Anyone have any recommendations for a reliable and spacious first car?

I would not recommend getting a Citroën due to maintenance costs. I've been in a few and they have held up, but I couldn't ask my friends who own them to go back to that car. I got a used Peugeot because a lot of them are built on the same platform, and unlike Citroën, they have good dealers with good parts availability.
Look into a Citroën C4 Picasso. It's cheap and really spacious. We had one for a while and it was perfect for family road trips. Just be prepared for some maintenance issues and higher repair costs.
I got a Mazda 3 and it was a dream. It was spacious and comfortable. But it was a new car so certainly wouldn't be as affordable. My sister had one a few years back and it was a great car. I just saw an old Mazda 3 for sale and would jump on it if I had a chance!
A friend of mine got a Škoda Octavia and he loves it. It's super spacious, reliable, and affordable. Definitely worth checking out. Just don't get the cheapest version because it’s really bare-bones.
I hear the Renault Megane is great. Plus they are easy to fix yourself. I got a Megane about 2 years back and I've been very happy with it. I’ve done most of the maintenance myself and it’s been pretty simple. Don’t know if it’s the best for family trips, though.
