I've just been prescribed Fluorouracil 500mg/10ml Inj, 10ml for my cancer treatment. I'm really nervous about the side effects. I've read some horror stories online. Can anyone share their experiences or tips on managing the side effects? I'm particularly worried about the injection site reactions and the potential for allergic reactions. How can I tell if something is serious enough to call the doctor? I want to be prepared for anything. Has anyone successfully dealt with the nausea or mouth sores? And what about the hair loss? I've heard it can be really debilitating. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Agreed, staying hydrated is crucial. Also, keep an eye out for infection signs. My sister went through it and ended up with a slight infection due to the compromised immune system. She had to take additional medication for that. The hair loss can be tough, but remember it's temporary. Get a bunch of cute hats or scarves if it makes you feel better!

Stay strong! If you notice any severe side effects, remember that your medical team is there to help. Trust your instincts and don't stay quiet if something feels serious. The doctor office should also have a 24/7 hotline where you can call if something is critically wrong.

I totally understand feeling nervous. As far as allergic reactions, your nurse should be checking you regularly. If you feel tingling, or see anything like hives or swelling on your skin, contact your doctor immediately. Fluids leaking from your IV site can be a problem too, but the nurses should catch that right away.

Wow, I had no idea the side effects could be so serious. I hope you feel okay during this time.

You've got this! Remember to take it one day at a time, and don't hesitate to lean on your support system. My brother actually had a good experience and said the fatigue was tough, but the nurses and doctors made it bearable. He also said things like moisturizing and eating soft foods helped with the skin and mouth issues.
