I've been using Imiquimod 3.75% Cream for a few weeks now to treat actinic keratosis, and I must say, it's been quite an experience. The cream is supposed to boost your local immune response to fight off those rough, scaly patches, but wow, the side effects can be intense. I've had everything from mild redness and itching to some pretty severe reactions like burning and oozing. I actually had to take a break from using it because it got so bad, but my doctor said it's fairly common. I've also been feeling a bit weak and feverish, but I guess that's just the flu-like symptoms kicking in. I wish I'd known more about these potential side effects before I started. Anyone else have a similar experience? I could really use some tips on managing these side effects better. Also, do any of you know if the skin discoloration is permanent?

I had a similar experience with the oozing and burning, try using a gentle moisturizer to help soothe the skin.

I've had some skin reactions, but nothing too severe. I've been lucky with the side effects, actually. I've just kept an eye on it and talked to my doctor regularly.

I had to stop using it for a week because the skin around the application was too sore, I had a week off then tried it at night before bed, it made a big difference.

I've used the cream for a month now and my actinic keratosis is almost gone, but the side effects have been tough to deal with. Just be patient, I know it sucks but it really works.

I wish my doctor had warned me about the flu-like symptoms. I thought I was coming down with something serious.
